Exemplar layering card and tissue

Materials for mixed media with tissue

Anything firm will work for a background, Prime first and ensure to dry flat afterwards if using lots of glue

Autumn Inspiration
Acrylic or water based inks make a good partner for working in tissue paper.

- Using a strong primed surface, cover with watered down pva (50%water)
- Layer with cut or torn tissue using the colours as you would paint, letting them show through and change in tones as they layer up
- Keep painting on a layer of glue on top each time to smooth and secure each layer
- Add areas of coloured tissue for detail
- reflect on your composition from time to time
- when your piece is dry you can paint or add ink on top
- finished work can be varnished
