Meg
Bin-liner black form
appears around each door
Eyes once sherry brown yet lately blurred and blue
follow me around the room
paws echo on kitchen tiles
barks of warning and welcome.
Tail beating a tattoo
excited snuffling as you search
for microscopic crumbs
Black velvet warmth as I bury my face in you
rough felt-pink tongue
an unmistakable earthy smell.
The empty rug by the fire still holds your shape
creased with memories.

This week has been quite a challenge but how you all have risen to this! Drawing fur on clothing, and animals is all in the gesture of your strokes, the energy of your marks, and the depths of tone you create between each section of hair. This can be loose or detailed and all these drawings show there is no one way to represent texture and bring your animal to life.
