Stripping back the drawing and painting process to a simple monochromatic or black and white palette is a useful, interesting and worthwhile exercise; and often as we can see this week; produces surprising, beautiful results. Often oil painters will produce an under painting of grey tones to find the darks and lights before adding any colour.
Have a rummage about in your art box for art materials which make wonderful combinations
Such a these ideas; which are suitable for the mono theme or for using with colour
*Acrylic paint under ink,
*Charcoal over water colour.
*Water colour over acrylic
*Graphite with hatching and then watercolour over the top.
*Predominantly charcoal but with a few spot colours with pastel pencil.
*Mainly graphite with coloured pencil to accentuate areas.
*Acrylic paint with pastel over the top.
After all that black and grey, have a colourful week everyone!
Love, Liz at The Beach Hut xx
