Found object

A found object (sometimes referred to by the French term ‘objet trouvé’) may be treated as a work of art in itself, as well as providing inspiration for the artist. The artist Henry Moore, for example collected bones and flints which he seems to have treated as natural sculptures as well as sources for his own work. Found objects may also be modified by the artist and presented as art, either in their original form or as part of a collage or assemblage.

  1. Gathering objects on our travels, apart from a few tiny shells, isn’t practical. Ziggy is just too small! But we do take lots of photos. One traditional here in Spain is to build little Beléns (nativity scenes) out in the wild, up mountains and cliffs around Christmastime. This one has weathered well, spotted on our hike this morning…12th September!
