A very warm Autumnal hello from the Devon contingency today on National Mental Health Day.

Why do we make Art?

Arts can make a powerful contribution to our mental health

Creativity can improve our well-being.

Participating in the arts can enable people to deal with a wide range of stress and anxiety

Art gives us a creative voice to express our ideas, feelings and our skills

We can be helpful and inspiring to others whilst creating our own way

Community groups create camaraderie, friendships, fun and a much needed support network

We get to relax and switch off from the everyday world

Art can create a feeling of community

Mental health is improved through creativity. Whether we draw or stitch or collage or create a garden or an opera; simply forming something new, a creation which didn’t exist before you made it, is a wonderful and healthy way to channel energy and emotions.

Art helps people express themselves, without having to use words.

Although I’m not sure there’s ever much quiet in the Art Room

Have a wonderful week
