The last two classes have focused on watercolour techniques and the many possibilities of layering and playing, Many water colour methods have been explored and tried out , which isn’t an easy ask! So a big thank-you to my brave and fearless artists stepping into the unknown. Nothing ever happens by always playing safe!!

Techniques included wet on wet, mixed background play, printing with a bag, dropping alcohol into wet inks, and various explorations of paint consistency

Painting watercolour over acrylic paint, splattering, glazing, texturing paper, wet into wet with ink, different paper types, making fluid, fine-liner pen over watercolour

We also used line drawings

This was an exceptionally productive session, building on last week’s lesson, and giving new confidence and skills to a ‘basic’ way of working. Mixing media and letting the water colours flow whilst knowing their potential and therefore the artist’s intention, are the building blocks to a solid painting.
And sometimes it’s just trusting yourself and the process.
Keep playing this week, happy to add lots more pictures here!
Love and hugs, Liz at the Beach Hut xx
